I decided not to do a Random Sherisms post today. Mostly because I don't have much to talk about, unless you want to hear about all the soccer and baseball and softball games, piano lessons and recitals, dance and singing group recitals and karate belt tests we've been going to. I promised to stop complaining, so I shall.
Instead, I've been thinking of some random questions to ask you.
Here's today's question of the day:
How often do you company clean?
What do I mean by company clean? Well, I was cleaning bathrooms yesterday morning, and I got thinking. I don't know about most of you, but as for me, I have a way of cleaning for everyday, and then there's the way I clean when I know company is coming over (like if I'm hosting book club, or throwing a shower or something).
Usually, I just pile up the clutter in one spot. (Ok, I actually have three spots where I pile the clutter). I clean my bathrooms with Clorox wipes, and maybe once a month actually use real cleaner and cleaning supplies. And honestly, I don't really even do that. I make my kids do it.
Moment of truth? I vacuum, maybe, once a week. I hate to vacuum. But, I do sweep every day. And I've said it before, my dishes are almost always done. The rest of my house could be a total disaster, but if my dishes are done, then I feel like my house is clean. I never dust, unless the kids do it with the Clorox wipes. I love Clorox wipes.
So, I like to have people over at least once a month, just to motivate myself to actually really clean my house. Even if its only for my visiting teachers.
So, how about you?

I am the exact same way! Though perhaps for different reasons. We have birds, and harsh cleaning chemicals can be deadly to them.
I don't love to clean but I love a clean house.
Now that I'm an emptynester as of a couple of weeks ago, I realize my life is SO different!
I think I clean "Saturday clean" about 3 times a week. It doesn't get overwhelming that way. I love my hardwood floors and I can't stand any marring the shine, so I damp mop those about 3 times a week.
I just recently decided that clorox wipes can have my baby.
I love the idea of things being sanitized.
When I had a houseful of kids the bathrooms were scrubbed twice a week, it was just too hard to keep up.
My fridge is my zen. I love a clean fridge. The house can totally fall apart and I will head to the fridge to look at the clean sparkliness.
I think that you are a very busy and in demand mommy, you are doing awesome.
You'll always have a chance to have a spotless house.
You won't always have your "babies" in it!
How often do I "Company Clean"?
Not often enough!
I find myself thinking, "What's the point. When 3:30pm rolls around it'll all be undone anyway!"
Not often enough.
But my house is clean to the casual observer. Except my office. Don't go in there.
I do try to have people over a couple times a month to force me to really clean. It feels good, and I like having a reason to do it! :)
Don't you have kids? Why are you doing the vaccuming? :) That's why the Lord invented children.
I company clean when I have company. Honestly, my routine sounds just like yours, except for the dishes and vacuuming. Switch those. If my floor is vacuumed, the house feels clean. But I despise dishes. I wish I could get away with doing them once a week. I try for once a day but that's not enough.
I keep my living room clean all the time, because that's where I teach. But if a student needs to use the bathroom, it's pretty much a coin toss as to whether or not they'll come out of it with a communicable disease. Sometimes it's better to just risk the kidney stones and hold it, kid!
Yeah that sound about right, accept for the clorox wipes thing, maybe I should whip those out more often.
Clean? What is this you speak of? I should go and google it! :)
I honestly started inviting people over more often because of this. You sound just like me. Only, I don't sweep every day and I can only stand to do the dishes once a day.
My house is eternally spotless!
snort!!
Yeah right.
I company clean before my mother in law comes to visit. The last time she visited was Thanksgiving.
Scary huh?
Happy Mother's Day Sher!!
You are like my younger, skinnier, more accomplished cleaning twin.
I keep the family room and one bathroom company clean and the rest is a mess! My kitchen stays a mess because someone is always snacking, etc.
