Playing Catch Up....

An alternate title could be:
Trying to survive without a computer for a week/last week of school craziness/A Birthday Party/Welcome Summer/Back Seat Driving/and Meeting Famous People.

I have to admit, it has been very eye opening and cleansing for me to be without my computer. I am typing this post on my husband's computer, which probably means, I won't be able to finish it before he has to reclaim it to take it to work tomorrow, and I won't be able to post pictures.

My computer was having problems the last month. When we got back from Indy, it started doing some crazy things, and finally last weekend, it completely crashed. I took it in with the intention of having my files backed up and getting the virus or whatever it was cleaned off. Come to find out, they computer was completely wiped clean, and they had to recover my files. There were able to recover some of them, but in order to access them I would have to reload all of my programs, including Windows. Only, one problem. The CD drive went bad. So, I couldn't reload any programs. Needless to say my computer was useless. To make a long story short, I ended up buying a new computer. I know I got hosed, and I paid too much, and I'm pretty sure they could have fixed my computer, but didn't because they were trying to sell me one. But, I was tired of going in to the damn store everyday, only to get the run around.
They are good at what they do. They just badger you, refusing to actually fix the old computer until you cave.
I'll pick it up tomorrow. It better be worth it.

So, going through the week without the computer has been very revealing to me. I can't believe how much free time I had. And that was with two monkeys out of school. It made me realize just how much time I spent on the computer. So, I've decided to use this experience to reset. I'll still be around, but just not as much. I need to focus more on what's important most to me in my life. And, while I enjoy the friendships I've made from blogging, this certainly can't take priority in my life like it has in the past.

That said, I want to report about recent events in my life/family.
But, since I can't put pictures on, I'll have to post about it later, once I have my router configured onto my new computer. Hopefully by tomorrow.

See you soon!!

The part about having to buy a new computer sucks, and having your old one wiped does too. But the rest of the week sounds like it was quite nice! Good for you.

You know what? Me, too. I've decided to post once every week or two, and I'm taking the summer to do some music composition stuff and to edit some old essays.

I know we'll see each other around, and I'm always good for a text from the local watering hole! Hugs to you, Sher!

Come see me!

Sorry about the loss of your computer- I hope you didn't lose anything important!

I'm scared to find out how much time I spend online! I think you are making a good decision for your family and yourself. Don't be a stranger but no worries if we don't 'see' as much of you. I have been cutting back myself on the online time thing.

Great meeting you on Saturday at the concert. Sorry my brain didn't click in fast enough to put the blog name together with the person!

Sorry about the computer. I had same problem not long ago, and now back up everything online on Carbonite. Candace uses them, too, and a few other friends. Might be worth considering for peace of mind.

We just recently had to buy a new computer. Boo!!

I feel the same as you--I am not going to be on the computer as much. Priorities.

Grrr, surviving without a computer is both frustrating and enlightening. I would now officially die without my laptop. Keeps me sane.
Hope your new puter is all you want it to be!

I've found myself having a serious hot and cold relationship with blogging. Some days (like today) I just can't get enough. Others, I avoid the computer at all costs. I don't even turn it on.

I took a few days off from the internet, and I was amazed what I accomplished. This truly is a time hog, but I enjoy it...

Sorry you had to buy a new computer...Bummer!

Well, clearly I'm gonna need more of a Sher fix than every now and then. We're really, really, really gonna get together. For real. Seriously. Not kidding.

Still loving your cd! And of course, YOU!

Maybe that is why I am grumpy lately I am just not busy enough! Are we still going to the luncheon together? Let me know will you, thanks.

Totally understand the need to cut back. I feel like I haven't been as present in blogworld lately, unfortunately, in my case, I'm still not getting much done around my house and with my work schedule, I'm still not getting much time with my girls. I'm looking forward to their summer break. (Did I just say that?)
