See? I'm not completely useless as a parent.
About the kids cleaning up before Dad came home, do any of you ever do that? This is my daily ritual. We go through our day, doing our thing, making messes. And by golly, I refuse to follow my kids around all day picking up after them. Life is too short. There are just too many blogs to read to be doing that. So, every night around 5:00, we make a mad dash around the house, cleaning up, and making the house look half decent, so it doesn't look like I sat around all day to my workaholic husband. He needs to think that I work just as hard as he does. Or I'd never hear the end of it.
In my defense, though, usually, we have school, and activities to drive the kids to, and believe it or not, we've had less friends over this week than usual. So, really, we are busy during the day.
Anyway, I digress.

Ok. I have been waffling back and forth, debating whether I should vent about what I'm about to vent about or not. (Did that make any sense whatsoever?) I hope this doesn't make me sound ungrateful, or anything. It's just I'm feeling a little discouraged is all. Why is it that more people are interested in what I fed my kids for breakfast, or what color I dyed my hair, than in my music? Of the 9 comments I got on my post announcing my free sheet music promo, most of them went something like this: "Oh well, I don't play the piano. Thanks anyway."
Ok, this might sound the slightest bit cynical, but you do realize that you don't actually have to play the piano to listen to piano music, right? You don't have get the free sheet music to buy the CD, if you don't want it.
That said, I appreciate all of you who have said you would buy a CD. I understand if you have reasons you want to wait. And I really, truly appreciate everyone who has ordered a CD already.
Thank you!
I'm just having some serious thoughts of self doubt, and wondering if this thing is just to big for me to succeed.

I'm really worried that my little venting session will offend people. I don't want to guilt people into feeling sorry for me so they'll buy the CD. I want people to buy it because they like the music. All I'm asking, is that you take a moment, go over to my website, and just listen. You just might like it. I've also put Paypal buttons on my music blog, and created an Etsy account, just to make it easier for you. I also have a mail in form if you don't want to pay using Pay pal. Just send me an email, and I'll send it to you.

Does it seem like I've been complaining alot? If so, I'm sorry. I think I've completely lost my funny mojo. Have you seen it? I was reading through some of my older posts, and I think I used to be pretty stinkin' funny. Now, the only time I think I'm funny is when I have a flask in my hand. I think I might have a problem. Is it possible to get addicted to grenadine?

Speaking of funny stories, it recently occurred to me that I may or may not have never told you about the time TJ almost burned my house down. True story. Does that sound familiar? Have I told that story before? If not, plan on a good one later next week.

KJ borrowed my i-pod. Now, of course, I can't find it. I guess that's what I get for being so accommodating as to downloading Disney channel
Let's see.....every song from the Hosanna Concert by Lex De Azevedo. It's so stuck in my brain, from rehearsing over and over. I don't mind it though. The music is so amazing.
Seriously, if you are in Utah, and can make it into Salt Lake tonight or tomorrow night, come see the show. It is going to be incredible!! Buy tickets, here.

Sher, I do think that your music is beautiful and you are extremely talented. I used to play the piano, and I haven't in so long because of lack of access to one.
I have to say, that I actually don't listen to or buy a ton of music in general.
I feel so guilty sometimes, because there are so many great businesses or charities that my bloggy friends do and support, that I wish I could buy everything or donate money to everything, and I just can't.
I think that supporting you morally, when you talk about your kids or other things, is something that is easy, and doesn't cost any money. At least that's how I sort of approach things.
Don't give up! I think there's just a learning curve, and especially with the state of the economy, people aren't spending as much money right now.
I love piano music. Not only is it soothing to me, but I also have such a great appreciation for anyone who can play.
Don't be discouraged, a little opposition is to be expected right?
And yes you can totally be addicted to Grenadine. I'm still batttling the Mexican vanilla....
I can totally relate to how you feel about, well, everything, including the bit about the flask, but particularly, the part about selling your CD. Having a product up for sale is sometimes a really fun spot to be in and sometimes a very NOT fun place to be in. I would guess that most people aren't buying b/c of the economy, and like Kristina said, so many of everyone's blog friends have something to sell. I doubt it has anything to do with your talent. Maybe people just make up an excuse b/c they don't want to say "I can't afford it right now". It's a tough spot for both the artist and the prospective buyer to be in YET it's also a hugely great way to get exposure and make some sales. Clearly I have no answers for you except that I wouldn't take it at all personally.
Boy, it's tough to not take things personally, isn't it? It's like saying, "And THIS is my beautiful baby! Isn't she wonderful? If you just get to know her I'm sure you'll love her as much as I do!" only to have people say, "Yeah, I'm sure she's fine. I'm just not that into kids." Or, "My sister has a baby. I've seen one already."
I'm going to e-mail some suggestions to you, darling. We'll get the word out, proper!
I agree with Kristina, you are very talented. And, with a talent like yours you cannot get down.
Love your guts! I'm sorry you're so down right now. I'm so freakin' poor. There. I said it. But I am going to make a point to get your CD. I gotta support my blog-besties when I can! Cheer up! Sorry. I HATE it when people tell me that. You're awesome, though. Frills.
I want to buy your CD. Really. However, we have no money for extras right now, so I've just not said anything. But maybe soon I'll be able to buy it from you!
Don't get discouraged! I am in total agreement with Kristina. Things are so hard right now. Can I just tell you I would love to get your CD, Heidi's book and Annette's book, but that just isn't in the cards right now. . . along with pretty much everything on Etsy. (working on the coveting)
Anyway, I think you are so brave to put yourself out there like you have, especially during such an uncertain time.
Not that I have any knowledge, whatsoever on how to do this, but could you do like an itune kind of thing where you just charge per download? I wonder if you would have better luck through that route.
I've told you before, I'm a huge fan of your music. And because I dont have a pay pal account, I would LOVE LOVE to purchase one of your CD's. I've been out of the bloggy realm for about a month now and didn't know you had yours up for sale! So please send me a mail in form at tinkledpink65@gmail.com. I'd love one. And BTW, I TOTALLY do what you said you do...when I know my husband is about to be home, I'm a speedy demon going through the house picking up the house and barking at the kids to do the same. Heaven forbid if he should come home before he's supposed to :)
I think people tend to go for things that they relate to. This is true for music and I figured this out when no one wanted to listen to my Edgar Meyer CDs but me. I could relate to it because he plays my instrument and the same genres.
I think that people who are into the sort of piano music that you are into would take to your CD more easily. but I also know that if you listen to something enough times, you start to like it. So maybe if people heard your songs enough, they would grow on them.
Anyways, don't let it get to you. I think that something like this takes time to get "out there". So just be patient. Besides, there are those of us that really enjoy your music. I listen to our old cd quite often.
I've been so kind of wrapped up in my own little world I've kind of just been going through the motions. I haven't had a chance to check out your music site but I have wanted to. I will make a point of it. I love the piano and piano music. Don't feel bad about venting....we all need to at one time or another.
I love your music. My hubs DOES play the piano but doesn't read music. No problem though, so long as he can hear it played, he can play it. Yeah. He's one of those disgusting people who can play by ear alone- though he is not anywhere near to the level that you are. I'll go check out your music blog. I must have missed that post in my reader.
And it's okay to complain on your blog. Moms have LOTS of reasons to require a vent or two. The ONLY place Moms can get any real sympathy is from other Moms so vent away!
Oh- and I used to be at least a little funny but not so much anymore either. I think my funny mojo must be on the same cruise as yours.
I am amazed that you find a diffent "song" list each week and all a variety of sounds. I love music, all kinds as well.
I think your music is awesome. I have to head over to your other blog, again. I went while at work, all sneaky like. I play the piano, but not very well. It's okay to vent, we all need to sometimes. °Ü°
Don't give up! You can do it!
hugs and all that other mushy crap!!
It is not too big. You can do this!!!! Look at it like a marathon. YOu will get there, it just takes time.
I didn't know I could buy your cd by using paypal. I've wanted one of yours for a long time but didn't know how to do it. I'll try figuring it out and if I can't figure it out, I'll just come to your house!
Okay, so I just bought the cd but it put my old address on to send it to. Send it to Grandma Ruth's house: 320 E. 2000 N. layton, ut 84041. Thanks! I'm way excited to get it.
Bon Jovi, Garth and Coldplay- nice!
Stopping by from SITS to say "hi" and welcome. I know that you will enjoy being part of this vibrant community of bloggers.
carma :-)
What a beautiful family you have!
p.s. Welcome to the SITS community - we're so pleased that you've joined us!
I am totally cracking up about the first story you told. I am exactly the same way right before my husband comes home. We hurry and turn off the TV, and run around to try to clean things up. I love how you said that you try to make it look like you didn't just sit around all day-- me too! I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one to feel that way!
Great randomness!
I clean up and spray febreeze before my husband gets home so that he thinks I spent my whole day being useful.
Just stopping by to welcome you to SITS! I love your playlist! Sometimes people only comment on what they can relate to...it happens to all of us!
Don't let it get you down - I'm sure your CD is beautiful!
I just gotta tell you, I was seriously laughing outloud talking about your daily routine and 5:00 clean up. That is EXACTLY what happens over here!! I was laughing so much that Superman asked what was so funny. I read him that section and said that it was the story of almost every day for me, then said I probably shouldn't be confessing all that to him. He said I wasn't fooling anyone. :P How sweet.
I think you're funny. And talented. I love that you keep it so real.
Still no Keane on that playlist.
Don't make me drive up there. ;)
