It's Sunday again. Are you still praying by your unmade bed every morning?
Today, take a few minutes, open up your scriptures. You could just read where you left off from last time. Or just read wherever the book opens up. Or if there is something you've been struggling with, (illness, depression, family, your testimony, etc.), look in the topical guide, or index and find a scripture that applies to your topic.
Read for 5-10 minutes. Then kneel down and say your prayers.
Sometimes the answer you've been looking for is right there on the page, waiting for you to come looking for it. Sometimes the comfort you needed is there in the scriptures.
Start doing this everyday. You can find 10 minutes a day (even if it's in the bathroom) to read.

Found you through DeNae's blog -just blogging around. Thanks for the reminder. I made a commitment to read the Book of Mormon this year. I NEED strength. I am a pretty weak chick-o. And this life has been pretty challenging for me lately so, I will take your suggestion to "fill my bucket" with spiritual wisdom.
I totally admit I struggle with saying my prayers on my knees. That's something I really need to work on. It's too easy to fall asleep when I'm saying them in bed.
I love that... first things first... are you still praying my your unmade bed!!! THANKS!
I'm so sad that we didn't get to meet in person! I meant to come and see you finish your run, but then my son told me about a BIRTHDAY party he had and I had to run around with my head cut off trying to get ready for that and his BasketBall game...
KIDS...
WEll we REALLY do need to meet, next time you come down I'll just steal you away and take you out for a goody or something!!!
Congrats on finishing the race...you are a stronger person than I!
And I need to say my prayers on my knees BESIDE my bed...thanks for the reminder!
Kristina--I once fell asleep saying a couple prayer out loud with my husband. I mean I was the one praying. And I guess I stopped, and he had to shake me awake.
Thanks for these reminders, Sherrie! Just what I need.
You're a gem. I teach Gospel Doctrine and Institute, and I still struggle with the "10 minutes a day" thing. I have no trouble sitting in the same place for two hours, studying and preparing to teach out of the scriptures. So why do I need to be reminded to take a few minutes during the day to 'fill my bucket'? Whatever the reason, thanks for the reminder, Sher! (Now, if I can just get my students to read your blog...)
I haven't read blogs for awhile and can I just say...YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I just sat and read through some of your posts for the last month and I am amazed at you. I can totally relate and I love that you are honest...and I love this Bucket Filler thing you got going. Keep it up..for you and for me! Good job Sher...you should plan another girls night for all of us..we all need it!
Sher, that's true. Also, I have found that in addition to reading the scriptures, it is really helpful to write down your thought as you read. It's incredible what you learn.
Awesome Bucket Filler today! Thanks for the reminder!
I have been trying. Due to this post, I will continue. Thanks for the reminder. M
Thanks Sher.
