Timpanogos

Saturday morning we got up early and headed South to Lehi where we met up with my sister and brothers and their families, then went up to Mount Timpanogos.
The plan was to hike up and go through the cave, but when we got there the sign said that there was a 4 hour wait for cave tours, and you can't go in the cave without a tour.
Well, we weren't going to sit around and wait for 4 hours with 8 kids, so we decided just to hike up to the top, take a peak in, and then go back down.
The kids did really great. Except TJ decided halfway up that he was done, and kept saying, "This is boring. I'm tired. I wanna go home" At one point, I think he was actually bear crawling up the trail, because of course, I refused to carry him.
Peter actually did a lot better than I thought she would. She walked the whole way up....but we had to carry her the whole way down.
When we got to the top, there was a ranger who agreed to let us in the cave in the first room, since we weren't on a tour. So, we got to see it a little bit. I haven't been up there since I was really little. I don't remember how old, maybe 7 or 8, since my family hiked up there.
I had a great time. I really enjoy hiking, the mountains. My husband, and kids, on the other hand...well, they went along, without much complaining, but I think they would've been happier with a comfy couch and a good movie. How did my family get to be such city folk?
I have decided there is a huge difference in running down hill, and walking down hill, because yesterday my shin and my butt were sooo sore.

A view from the top!

Our whole group. That's our little family on the far left, then my baby bro, then my sis and her fam, and my oldest bro and his fam on the far right.

I love hiking too. It really is too bad that it is SO HARD to do it with kids. And can you believe this--I've never been to Timpanogas Cave. That is so sad. Glad to see one of us getting out and getting some exercise, though!

How much fun....I haven't been there in forever either! How much fun to do that with your family though! I haven't looked at your blog forever...so much fun to read. Cute picture with grandma. What fun to have a sleepover. I remember having sleepovers with kristen...and after one day I am sure our moms were ready to throw us out and swear off sleepovers! Good for you 4 days...wow you are amazing!

How fun. I hiked that way before I had kids and I remember it being a hard hike!

That sounds fun! I haven't been to Timpanogos since I was little either. I'd be the one dying, though, so I am very impressed!! There I go again, complaining about being "too old!" Ha Ha!!
